- Examine tissue, cell, and fluid specimens (histopathology, cytology, clinical pathology) to identify disease patterns and provide accurate diagnoses.
- Review and sign off pathology reports with precise medical terminology and clinical relevance.
- Collaborate closely with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to support evidence-based treatment planning, especially for cancer and complex cases.
- Supervise and ensure the accuracy, quality control, and safety protocols of laboratory operations.
- Perform and interpret specialized diagnostic tests including immunohistochemistry (IHC), molecular testing (e.g., PCR), and hematological analysis.
- Participate in autopsy procedures (where applicable) and prepare medicolegal documentation as needed.
- Guide and train junior doctors, medical technologists, and interns within the pathology department.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of diagnostic advancements and ensure compliance with national and institutional standards.
- Contribute to academic activities, clinical research, and case discussions within the hospital or medical college setting.
