icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.Mucosal Immunology and Vaccinology Unit (MIVU) under the Infectious Diseases Division has a focus on studies to understand the systemic and mucosal immunology of diseases with natural infections and its application and extension to better determine the vaccine efficacy.Position Description:
The Field Research Supervisor will report to the Senior Research Investigator and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising data collection work in the field, conducting interviews as per the project's needs with the objective of enabling smooth data collection and management within the project guidelines. S/he will be involved in -
  • Understand research protocol and data collection techniques from supervisor/PI; Receive training on data collection methods specific to the project;
  • Guide the field staff on completion of tasks, activities, reports and documentation. Motivate, train and counsel co-workers in order to ensure smooth implementation of the study/project.
  • Check data accuracy; Supervise and monitor sample and data collection activities at the field staff; Check and ensure quality of data in the field; Validate and observe a certain percentage of interviews.
  • Perform field visits to solve the problem in the field sites and conduct regular meetings with the staff at the field in order to ensure proper monitoring and supervision activities.
  • Keep records of every single activity related to the study/project; Prepare various reports on project-related activities as advised by supervisor/PI; Archive the source documents of the study as instructed by the supervisor; Organize and preserve different official papers and office records in order to maintain an effective filing;
  • Take appropriate actions to manage poor performance (such as creating Performance Improvement Plans, coaching, job rotations); Provide feedback to the supervisor on team members' performance in order to build and develop a high-performing team.
Required qualifications and experience:
  • Master's degree with good academic records;
  • At least 03 years of experience in the relevant field; preferably, those who have worked previously in a vaccine trials project.
Location: Mirpur Field Office, DhakaNumber of Positions: 02Contract Type and duration:
  • Short-Term; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
  • Tk.50,267/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
