Responsibilities & Context:ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country`s primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people`s ownership. Consequently, the ESDO`s working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women`s empowerment, health, the promotion of children`s rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government`s development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government`s development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.Service Duration: 4 Months (Up to 31st December 2025)In partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), ESDO is implementing the DRC-ESDO Economic Recovery Project 2025 under the DANIDA SPA program in Cox's Bazar district. The project will be carried out in Camps 5, 8E, 8W, and 10, as well as in the host communities of Jalalipalong, Palongkhali, and Rajapalong unions of Ukhiya upazila.Job SummaryThe Training & Design Consultant, Garment Jhoot Recycling Skill Training will be responsible for designing of product, developing, and delivering competency-based training modules on garment jhoot recycling, product innovation, and entrepreneurship. The consultant will support capacity building of trainers and participants, introduce innovative and market-oriented product designs, and ensure quality standards in training delivery. S/he will also provide technical guidance on sustainable recycling practices, document best practices, and contribute to linking trainees' skills with market opportunities, thereby promoting livelihoods and circular economy initiatives.Reporting to: Focal Point/ Project Coordinator, ESDOJob Purpose:Training & design Consultant- Garment Jhoot recycling skill training is responsible for managing the doormat production activities of the project, that they are carried out in compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. This includes conducting field-level innovative activities, developing IGA and providing technical assistance and support to beneficiariesOrganizational Responsibilities:Contribute to overall goal & objectives of ESDODissemination organization culture and values to team members and stakeholdersFollow organizational policies and raise issues connected with the line Managements.Specific Responsibilities/ Training:Product Design & InnovationResearch and develop innovative, market-oriented product designs using garment jhoot.Provide guidance on improving quality, finishing, and cost-effectiveness of recycled products.Support linking product design with market demand, e-commerce, and branding strategies.Training Design & DevelopmentDevelop competency-based training curriculum and modules on garment jhoot recycling, tailoring, and product diversification.Integrate soft skills, entrepreneurship, and quality control aspects into the training content.Prepare training manuals, session guides, and visual aids tailored for low-literacy participants.Capacity Building & Training DeliveryConduct Training of Trainers (ToT) for Master Craftspersons and field trainers.Facilitate hands-on training sessions for project participants, ensuring practical skill transfer.Monitor and provide feedback on training effectiveness and learner performance.Technical Support & DocumentationAdvise on sustainable recycling techniques and environmentally friendly practices.Document training processes, success stories, and best practices for knowledge sharing.Support project teams in aligning training outputs with donor requirements and reporting needs.Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor/Honors
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Engineering or any other related subject. Master's pass in the same field will get preferences.
Experience:
  • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO
Additional Job Requirements:
  • Age At most 45 years
Minimum 5 years of experience in garment sector training, fashion design, or recycling/upcycling initiatives.Proven expertise in jhoot recycling, tailoring, and product design (portfolio or samples required).Experience in developing training manuals, curricula, and participatory teaching methodologies.Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills with diverse groups.Familiarity with market trends, eco-friendly design, and circular economy practices.Excellent communication skills in Bangla and English.Training curriculum and module (both in Bangla & English).Hands-on training sessions conducted as per project plan.At least 50 of innovative jhoot-based product designs developed by trainees.Final training report with key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.Compensation & Other Benefits:As per project allocation.
