Responsibilities & Context:ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.The position is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on internal audit assignments in line with organizational policies, donor guidelines, and statutory requirements. The Senior Audit Officer will also provide advisory support to management for strengthening internal controls, risk management, and governance processes across ESDO's diverse program operations.Key Responsibilities:Audit Planning and Execution
  • Develop audit plans, programs, and checklists in alignment with the annual audit strategy.
  • Conduct internal audits of projects, field offices, partner organizations, and central functions.
  • Review and verify financial transactions, records, and statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with ESDO's financial policies, donor agreements, and national regulations.
  • Identify potential risks, irregularities, and weaknesses in systems and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and provide follow-up reports.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare high-quality, clear, and concise audit reports for management and donors.
  • Present audit findings with practical recommendations to senior management and the Audit Committee.
  • Maintain proper documentation of audit work papers and evidence.
Capacity Building and Advisory Role
  • Provide guidance to program and finance teams on internal control best practices.
  • Support in designing capacity-building initiatives for staff and partners on financial accountability.
  • Advise management on emerging audit, compliance, and risk issues.
Collaboration and Coordination
  • Coordinate with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and donor representatives as required.
  • Work closely with finance, operations, and program departments to strengthen compliance culture.
  • Support the Head of Audit in developing and updating audit methodologies and manuals.
Education Requirements:
  • Master of Commerce (MCom)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Business Studies (MBS)
  • Master's degree in commerce background with CA (cc).
  • Please mention the CA (cc) degree on Extra Curricular Activities portion.
Experience:
  • At least 2 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO
Additional Job Requirements:
  • Age At most 40 years
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in auditing, preferably in NGO/INGO/Corporate Section/Hotel Management or development sector.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards, donor compliance, internal control systems, and risk management.
  • Strong skills in financial analysis, reporting, and audit software/tools.
  • High integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (both Bangla and English).
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments independently under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to project sites and partner organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Monthly consolidated salary 40,000/- (Forty Thousand) taka on probation period. After the service confirmation salary will be 46,875/- (Forty-Six Thousand Eight Hundred & Seventy-Five) Taka only. Baisakhi allowance, Fuel Bill, Advance Loan, Insurance Facilities, Distance Allowance, City Allowance & others as per organizational policy.
