Partnering with governments, communities, and industry leaders, Pure Earth aims to elevate pollution as a global priority, create sustainable change, and support a healthier future by working with government and communities in the country and across the region.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Program Officer will be part of Bangladesh team and will work closely in managing large grants that are operational in multiple settings. The ideal candidate will have coordinating role as well as with superb report writing skills, ability to work independently, be extremely detail oriented, and have experience in environmental, environmental health, international development, and/or pollution-related projects.SCOPE OF WORK:The Program Officer will report to Bangladesh Country Director and work closely with other program and operational staff, providing programmatic and administrative support to large multi-year projects. Key responsibilities include but not limited to:Drafting and editing formal reports for donors; monthly and annual program reports; publicizing projects and results.Support the team in organizing national and local events/meetings, including developing concept notes, preparing schedules, drafting invitee lists, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring the successful execution of the events.Contribute to developing proposals and presentations, conduct desk reviews of funding opportunities, and identify avenues to engage with potential donors.Contribute to the preparation of different sector analytical reports, policy briefs on issues of national relevance as well as other dissemination materials that the organization is tasked to undertake.Facilitate effective coordination and joint planning between government agencies (MoEFCC, DGHS, Industry, DoE), battery industries, and implementing partners to achieve the objectives and results outlined in project documentsHave good knowledge of budget preparation, program progress monitoring tools, and project implementation process.Facilitating training or orientation with relevant stakeholders on heavy metal or other environmental pollution issuesEDUCATION QUALIFICATION:A Master's degree in Business, Policy, Economic, Development Studies, Public Health, Environmental Engineering or a related field.WORK SUPERVISION:The Program Officer will work under the supervision of Country Director.WORK LOCATION:Office located in House: 3/3, Block E, Lalmatia, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Ability to write effectively for diverse audiences, including donors, and project partners.Ability to operate comfortably and effectively in diverse cultural environments and coordinate national as well an international team.Ability to develop and deliver on goals; identify priority activities and assignments; and problem-solving skills in adjusting plans and activities as necessary.Experience with statistical software, excel, Microsoft office and ability to think and plan strategically and creatively.Ability to effectively represent Pure Earth as the interface with partners.Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.Company Information:Pure Earth is a US-based international non-governmental organization, registered in Bangladesh (Registration Number 3366), a pioneer in developing evidence-based solutions to heavy metal pollution including lead exposure in low and middle-income countries. In Bangladesh, Pure Earth is actively working since 2020; expanding capacity, building partnerships, and carrying out foundational research, mainly on the lead sources (367 products were analyzed in four districts, home-based assessments were conducted in six districts), conducted toxic site assessments (300+ toxic sites were identified and assessed in Bangladesh), implementing lead remediation programs (three remediation projects were implemented in three districts, lead remediation resulted in a 35% decline in children's blood lead levels), raising community awareness, and advocating to increase monitoring and enforce regulations.
