Responsibilities & Context:About Project: PRERONA made a promising implementing partnership with WHH in the Coastal District Satkhira. This collaboration aims to address the economic challenges, food security issues, and livelihood concerns faced by both rural and urban populations in this coastal region. PRERONA will start the implementation of the three-year-long project titled “Community-based programme for climate-resilient and sustainable livelihoods in coastal areas of the Satkhira district, Bangladesh” in November 2024. The project will benefit a total of 5,000 households with a total of 25,000 people (55% women). In the urban target areas, the project will focus mainly on marginalized climate migrants living in slums (internally displaced persons), while in rural areas, the focus will be on the marginalized population, which is disproportionately affected by climate change. The project is financially supported by Welthungerhilfe-Germany and BMZ (German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development).Purpose: PRERONA is inviting applications for the position of women lead officer, who will undertake the project's overall implementation, supervision and reporting, under the supervision of the Head of Program of PRERONA. Women Lead Business Development Officer will be implemented in the Satkhira Sadar and Debhata Upazilla.Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing project implementation strategies and preparing detailed implementation plan (DIP) as per project proposal.
  • Ensure timely and proper implementation of project activities aligned with project goal and objectives.
  • Identify potential women based on project requirements for climate-resilient and sustainable livelihoods focused business promotion.
  • Design and implement business development plan and strategies that support climate-resilient and sustainable livelihoods for women in coastal communities.
  • Facilitate to vulnerable women for entrepreneurship development through IGA support
  • Scaling of income-generating activities, including training programs tailored for women's entrepreneurship.
  • Foster partnerships with local, regional, and national stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies, and private sector partners for women lead business promotion.
  • Conduct market assessment to identify potential business opportunities and challenges in the coastal regions.
  • Develop strategic business plans for enhancing women's access to finance and market linkages.
  • Organize networking events and business expos to showcase women's products and services.
  • Facilitate community feedback mechanisms to ensure project alignment with local needs and priorities.
  • Lead awareness to educate vulnerable women on sustainable business practices and climate-smart solutions.
  • Advocacy meeting, fair with GO, LG, NOGOS, Community etc.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to local women's groups to build capacity and promote financial independence.
  • Facilitate and participate meeting, learning sessions, training, workshop, seminar etc. as per need.
  • Facilitate to develop robust supply chain and product promotion.
  • Ensure gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) issues to implement project activities.
  • Continue project documents study and ensure results focused events management.
  • Prepare project plans and reports as per requirements.
Education Requirements:
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master's in Business Administration, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.
Experience:
  • At least 5 years
Additional Job Requirements:Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership & report writing.
  • Familiarity with climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and rural community engagement is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of cultural sensitivity and understanding of community dynamics in coastal regions.
  • Proficiency in Bangla and English, both spoken and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, preferably in community-based or women-focused projects.
  • Women, disadvantage people and Persons with Disabilities will be given priority.
