Responsibilities & Context:Introduction:The Ready-Made-Garments (RMG) Sustainability Council (RSC) is an unprecedented initiative to ensure that garments exported from Bangladesh are produced in safe factories. The RSC carries forward the significant accomplishments made on workplace safety in Bangladesh following the Tazreen fire and Rana Plaza collapse incidents. The RSC conducts structural, electrical, fire, and boiler safety inspections of factories, supports and monitors remediation, conducts safety training and operates an independent safety & health complaints mechanism available to workers in RMG factories.Overall Job Purpose:The Remediation Programme Officer (RPO) is a part of the Remediation Programme Department of the RSC team in Bangladesh. The role reports into the Senior Remediation Programme Officer (SRPO) and is based in the RSC offices in Dhaka and Chattogram.The role is responsible for coordinating communications related to implementation of remediation between the RSC brands, factory owners, worker representatives, and the RSC management and leadership. It also assists the SRPO in the execution of the day-to-day operations of the department, regular reporting, and data management.Duties and Responsibilities:Sl. Key Responsibility Areas Key ActivitiesCorrective Action PlanningFollow up with assigned factories to obtain the latest Corrective Action Plan (CAP)Check received CAP updates from the factory side & submitting it for publishing.Check for follow up inspection CAPS & submit it for publishingPrepare finance/remediation meeting fact sheet, meeting minutes and follow up on the meeting action plan.Managing EscalationsFollow-up with the scheduled factories to ensure successful participation in the inspection programme.Follow-up on Escalation status of each factory, analyse Escalation Assessment Form (EAF) and prepare recommendation, coordinate escalation meeting, prepare the stage 1 & 2 meeting minutesManaging Records & Document SubmissionUpdate Case Management Tool (CMT) for day-to-day operationEnsure inspection reports and CAPs are uploaded into the Fair Factories Clearinghouse (FFC) database and shared with the relevant factories within the established timeframes.Work towards different document submission (Engineering Assessment/Detailed Engineering Assessment/Single Line Diagram/Fire Alarm and Detection System-FADS/Fire Suppression System-SUPS etc)Maintain accurate, detailed, and verified qualitative and quantitative data managements and case files for each assigned factoryProvide interpretation and translation support as requiredEnsure the dispatch of Recognition letter, Structural completion letter and No colour letter to the eligible factoriesMaintain records pertaining to Closures/RelocationsManaging Special InvestigationsKeep track of special investigations and maintain record in the CMTProposing critical cases for factory list review meetings for resolutionTechnical Query identification & record keepingOverall Monitoring & Evaluation ProcessVisit factories (closed/relocated and others) to monitor worker safety and report on observed critical health and safety risk and report to the CSOTrack and monitor latest update received from factories FADS and SUPS statusIdentify uncooperative factories in relation to FADS and SUPS document submission and coordinating with escalation teamAlert SRPO on problems, obstacles, or challenges to factory completion of remediationEducation Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS)
Bachelorʼs degree (BSc/ BBS/ BBA/ BA/ BSS) in any discipline from any reputed university, preferably in Textile Engineering, Environmental Science, or related engineering fields.Experience:
  • At least 2 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments, Group of Companies
Additional Job Requirements:At least 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in the RMG sector, preferably in areasassociated with safety, health, compliance, chemical management, ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) management, compliance auditing, and data management.Proficiency in written and spoken English.Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills to manage information and documentation.Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs & Sheets), efficient use and management of e-mail communications, and the ability to manage data for multiple cases.Experience in using ERP.Ability to work accurately and efficiently to meet deadlines under the direction of an SRPO.Capability to work effectively with workers, factory owners/managers, and brand representatives.Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to cope with stressful situations.Integrity, honesty, a strong work ethic, and commitment to the goals of the RSC and the RMG industry.Strong communication skills, with the ability to build excellent working relationships.Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong statistical and analytical capabilities.Experience in big data management, data visualization, and reporting.Experience in conducting audits related to safety, health, and environmental compliance.Skills & Expertise:Data Management,Data Visualization,Documentation,Monitoring and Evaluation,Record Keeping,RMG sectorCompensation & Other Benefits:Provident fund, Gratuity, Insurance, Mobile bill, 2 Weekly holidays.Festival Bonus: 2 (Yearly).
