Responsibilities & Context:A. Summary of ProjectRDRS Bangladesh has been implementing the program “RDRS Emergency Response Programme (RERP)” in Rohingya camps and nearby host communities in Cox's Bazar district since 2019. The RERP contributes to international efforts to meet the humanitarian and protection needs and increase self-reliance and resilience of the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) and host communities through Income Generating Activities (IGAs), tree plantation, life skills with livelihoods, and leadership development training. RERP also works on capacity building of youth and creates market linkage to improve their living standard. This program also aims at cultivating social cohesion, ensuring social inclusion, promoting reforestation, and providing humanitarian support (i.e., food and non-food items, WASH, health, protection, etc.) to the FDMNs as well as the nearby host communities.A. B. Summary of PositionUnder the overall responsibility and control of the Team Leader (RERP), the Technical Officer - Drug Protection will play a vital role in planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the efficient implementation of diverse project functions of RDRS Bangladesh. This position will focus on ensuring drug protection and inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable populations. This position will engage in activities aimed at detoxification, promoting social inclusion, and addressing the diverse needs of communities.A. C. Description of ResponsibilitiesMajor responsibilities of this position are as follows:She/he willDevelop and implement comprehensive protection and inclusion strategies.Ensure the integration of protection and inclusion principles within the project activities, plans, and staff welfare initiatives.Implementation of project activities.Collaborate with teachers & students to conduct baseline surveys.Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.Prepare reports, case studies, and documents on best practices and lessons learned.Assess and identify risks, vulnerabilities, and gaps in existing protection mechanisms through FGD, KII and survey.Design, organize, and facilitate training sessions and workshops on protection principles, inclusion practices, and related topics for project staff, stakeholders, and community members.Conduct collaboration with DNC (Department of Narcotic Control) & treatment centers to arrange detoxification & rehabilitation for persons in need.Conduct capacity-building activities for project staff and community people.Represent RDRS in coordination meetings with stakeholders.Maintain effective communication and collaboration with Imam, Majhi & local influentials & government representatives to implement project activities.Any other responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager.Education Requirements:
  • Master of Arts (MA) in Development Studies
  • Master of Arts (MA) in Law
  • Master of Arts (MA) in Anthropology
  • Master of Social Science (MSS) in Social Science
Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO, Development Agency

  • Age At most 40 years
Valid license for motorcycle ridingExperience in Rohingya crisis response and development field, protection, GBV prevention and response, and disability inclusion.Working experience in Cox's Bazar will be given preference.Fluent in speaking English, Bangla, and Chittagonian.Excellent writing skills in English and BanglaKnowledge in rights-based community development, Education, income generation/livelihood, Market Linkage, WASH, Protection, DRR/tree plantation, and other related areas, or willingness to learnExperience on community mobilization, linkage and liaison influencing skills; Polite & reasonableAbility to consult and negotiate with the management team and donor partnersActive listening skills and the ability to deal with sensitive situations with integrityHave a good understanding of gender and organizational gender policy and act accordingly.Be aware of and abide by the organizational Child Safeguarding and PSEAH Policy and practices.Abide by the organizational money laundering policy. RDRS was formally established as the Bangladesh field program of the Geneva-based Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service (LWF/DWS) on 8 February 1972. Its development aim is to achieve sustainable increases in their living standards. With this aim, RDRS enables those who participate in its program to gain the necessary skills, understanding, confidence, institutions and services; and ensure that the rural communities have the necessary economic, social and environmental resources. RDRS employees approximate 3,700 staff and works with a further approximately 1,000 volunteers and daily paid workers. The vast majority of staff are in field positions, with specialist sectoral and support units in Rangpur and Dhaka.
